TWO TYPES OF CASES MAY PRESENT.

Sometimes male breasts develop in an unattractive way. This is known as « gynecomastia ». Sometimes there is breast tissue as well as fat. If the problem is predominantly due to fat, we can carry out liposuction on the breasts. This procedure is extremely effective, especially when carried out on young patients.
We have to be careful with older men if there is a fold under the breast. The excess skin has to be properly assessed: if the skin does not appear to retract sufficiently then it will need to be tightened up which implies a small, circular scar around the nipple. The skin will be tightened through this. If necessary, the procedure will be carried out via an inverted « T » incision.

1 – If there is no major excess skin.

The solution in this case is simple liposuction that, without scarring, enables us to harmoniously reshape the pectoral region.
If there is a significant amount of tissue, we will combine liposuction which deals with the fat with a small, semi-circular incision around the nipple enabling us to surgically remove tissue for a perfectly flat result with an invisible scar.

2 – If there is excess skin.

If the breast is drooping then liposuction will not be enough and the skin will need to be tightened;
– Either through « Round Block » with a circular scar. The skin is then removed in a concentric way leaving a discreet scar around the nipple.
– Or, if the excess is severe, by making an inverted « T » incision as with a classic breast implant procedure. The nipple is then restored to a correct position. This type of case is very rare.

IN CONCLUSION

Gynecomastia is fairly frequent among men. By far the most common solution is liposuction which gives excellent results. This is often successfully combined with liposuction of the stomach and waist – areas which tend to prove resistant to diets and sport.
